Sometimes, There Aren't Words

some times, there are no words.

some days, you have toys and food everywhere, gooey handprints on windows, some broken heirloom dishes (because I wasn't on the ball), snot on all the furniture and yourself because someone is cutting all four molars at once, water all over the floor because your big helper did dishes for you and personal hygiene products stuck all over the wall in the bathroom because they really are just big stickers, right?

some days, you want to just hide and cry your heart out to God because you don't think you can cut it as a parent - what was He thinking? giving you a little life or two or three or however many you have? you don't have the words to express all the thoughts and emotions going through you so you just cry.

then. you take a breath. and your snotty gooey baby toddles up to you and grabs you around the legs for a huge hug. and your big helper comes and wraps her arms around you and says "you're the best, mommy!". and you realize that God gave you this....

and this....

and they have made it this far

because He knew you were the right mommy for them. and you don't have the words to explain how much you love your babies. you don't know how to say they bring you such joy and you wouldn't trade one single gooey, sticky minute for anything.

you realize that food and gooey handprints everywhere mean they are fed and happy. farm toys in lunch bags mean they are using their imaginations and are taking the animals on a picnic. the dishes mean i'm a goober and should have been paying better attention.... snot all over you means your little one finds comfort in you. water on the floor means your big girl is watching you and wants to be like you (nothing like a little pressure, huh?) and i'm really at a loss with the big stickers ;-)

how did our day go you ask?

we left the mess. we took a walk to enjoy the evening, cleaned up with happy hearts when we got back and i tucked my little angels into bed and watched them sleep for a little bit.

i don't know that i'd end my day any other way.

*just for the record: i cleaned up the water mess right when i found it and sis did a great job on the dishes she washed - i didn't have to rewash any! i'm going to have to take advantage of this skill of hers...... ;-)

Thanks for the pictures! It's great. Enjoy children while they are at this age. They grow up so fast. Preschool and Kindergarten are going to be just around the corner.
